Philadelphia-based retailer UBIQ partners with Asics to collaborate on an otherwise underused silhouette. Rereleased for the first time last year, the GT Cool is one of Asics' various models who has not seen a steady stream of special releases. This may change after UBIQ releases their rendition, titled - "Nightshade." Playing off the theme of their last Asics collaboration, UBIQ revisits a dark hour-theme, finding inspiration in similarly named "nightshade" plants, which were used for a myriad of reasons throughout the Middle Ages, such as medicine and hallucinogens. A premium olive nubuck is used for the upper, while perforations amongst the toebox and quarter panels reveal an intricate detail - a 3M underlay. The formstripes are composed of black leather and trimmed with a volt yellow, which complements upper midsole component. A metallic silver wave mesh is used for the split-tongue, which harkens to the reflective underlay and grey suede heel wrap. Final details include a 3M heel tab, red ASICS branding on the heel, and two tone rope laces. The Asics x UBIQ GT Cool - "Nightshade" will be available Saturday, August 9th, at both Kith NYC locations and online at KithNYC.com.
